Notizen zu dieser Person
Zdzislaw Kot (Husband of my Sister) In 1944 Zdzislaw Kot was active as a member of diversionary platoon "Puchacz" (Jan Balawender) with the code name of "Sroka". As such he participated in various acts (in and around Kanczuga) opposing the German invasion/occupation of Poland. Later on this platoon opposed the occupation by the Soviet army. For example, on April 5, 1944 he participated in an action, code named "Jula", to blow up the railroad bridges on the Przeworsk - Pozwadow line (north-south) on the Wisloka River. At the end of World War II, Zdzislaw Kot and several others escaped to Italy and then to England. He made his way to America with the help of an aunt (name, other relations unknown; Address(?) 63 Hunt Ave, Pearl River, New York). He arrived in New York on 23 Dec 1950 on the ship Franconia from Liverpool England. There is an interesting fact concerning Zdzislaw and my uncle Friederich Weiss. They resided for a time (1944-1945?) in adjacent camps on the Italian Coast. Zdzislaw was with a group of other Polish patriots waiting transportation to England. My uncle Friederich was in a nearby German prisoner of war camp. This fact came to light at a family gathering in Long Island, NY in 1957.
