NOTE: In U.S. documentation Jacob Sr. and his family seem to have usedlater dates of birth than what are recorded in German records. The onlyexplanation that can be found for this is that they may have used baptismor chistening dates in the place of actual birth dates. It was alsocommon not to use birthdates in these times as it was not a frequentpractice to celebrate birthdays as it is today.
NOTE: Citation from a book on the St. Thomas German LutheranCongregation:
"Later on 14 Dec 1859, Jacob F. Glanner and his wife, Margaret for $5.50sold to the German Lutheran congregration in Madison Township named St.Thomas the northeast corner of the southeast quarter of Section 2,Township 13, Range 19. The land was half of a quarter section. This isapparently the land on which the "New St. Thomas Cemetery" was laid out."

This same book gives the following information:
Jacob Friederich Glanner, son of Georg & Katharine Glanner
b. 13 mar 1785 in Oberdorf, Wuerttemberg
married 1810 Margaretha Kramer, 7 children
d. 16 apr 1860, came to America 1813

* I can't account for the discrepancies in this data, save that it isknown that there are in fact other errors in the book. The given birthdate is most likely a baptism date as folks didn't often go by birthdatesin his time. As to his birthplace, it may be possible he was born inOberdorf, this has yet to be disproven, however, all current availableinformation points to his birthplace as Gr©·afenhausen. Finally the date of1813 appears erroneous as well, however the possibility exists that hemay have come stateside for some unknown reason, be it business, visitingrelatives, or simply to get a lay of the land. It is still unknownexactly when and where the family landed stateside, as well as theirreasons for leaving Germany.
