"He died at the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Laughlin at Luystown, Wednesday evening after a brief illness at the age of 46 years, nine months and 28 days.
He grew up in the Linn and Loose Creek communities and when our country entered the world war, he enlisted for service and was inducted into service at Pontiac, Illinois on June 24, 1918 and was assigned to the 264th Company 232 BN Mounted Police and on August 29th, the same year, he sailed for Europe where he remained for the remainder of the war. He returned to the U.S. on July 27, 1919 and was honorably discharged from the service at Camp Grant, Illinois on the 4th day of August, 1919 with an excellent record."
