When he was 12 yearsold , his family came to America and settled in Marion County, Kansas,where he grew to manhood. In 1889 he married Anna Winter at Lehigh,Knasas (sic), and to this union 12 children were born, 5 sons and 7daughters. In 1901, Mr. and Mrs. Epp came to Shattuck, Okla., wherethey homesteaded a farm five miles south of town. On February 6, 1907,Mrs. Epp passed away and the following August he moved to farm sout hof Fairview, Okla. In May 1908, he married Katherine Funk and to thisunion six children were born, 2 sons and 4 daughters. He passed to hisreward on July 30, 1946, after a short illness, aged 81 years, 5months and 17 days. He was preceded in death by a son and daughterfrom the first marriage, and four grand-ch ildren, one of whom died onthe battlefield of Germany in March, 1945. He is survived by his wifeKatherine and 16 children: Anna Classen, Marie Classen, Marth a Ruhl,Samuel and A.W. Epp, all of Fairview, Okla.; Margertha (sic) Schogerof Anderson, Ind ., Esther Ewald of Cleveland, Ohio, John Epp ofPerryton, Texas, Lydia Hembel of Shattuck, Fred Epp of Valley Falls,Kansas, Helena White of Jefferson, Oregon, Jake Epp of Pond Creek,Ruth WarKenton (sic) of Fairview, Elsie Stewart of Long Beach, Calif.,and David and Paulina o f the home. In addition to the above namedchildren, there are 39 grand-children and 20 great-grandch ildren, andone sister, Mrs. Lena Winter of Hillsboro, Kansas. Peter J.
