It appears that heprobably came from Denmark. Suggestions that he was a son of Harald'Bluetooth', King of Denmark and Norway, appear to be whollyspeculative. However, he must have been in a position of rank orinfluence given that his daughters married influential people. Thedaughters shown below are as reported in various web sites (which areinconsistent with each other, not least in respect of their dates) butthere is a suspicion that one or two of the women who have beenidentified as his daughters have been so merely because they werereported to have been "de Crepon" and are of this period. The positionis further complicated by the fact that the different daughters areoften confused with each other, different sources allocating theirhusbands differently between them. The following is therefore subjectto revision !!
