See notes of daughter Marie There were two Pierre Roszes having children at the same time it wouldseem. One Pierre married Germaine dau of Pierre Janvrin (21 Aug 1575)and another Pierre married Michelle dau of Guillmet Du Val on 26 Oct1578. As the records are so early it could in fact be two marriages of thesame Pierre and Jenette (who would have been his second wife's) burialdate could be missing. The Jersey Chantry Certificate of 1550 In the religious life of the European Middle Ages, a person with themeans to do so could make provision for Masses to be said ( recited orchanted ) after his death - by an endowment to the Church. In Jersey,endowments were usually in the form of a rente and would ensure thatmasses, a chantry, were said at the altar for the repose of the soulof the departed.Some records (certificates) of these endowments havesurvived. ( UK.PRO)Certain members of La Société Jersiaise in 1975,led by Mr. Sydney Bisson M.A., transcribed one such originalmanuscript and the following names were found in that ChantryCertificate of 1550.Each family name is followed by the given names ofany mentioned in the certificate. There was a Pierre Rose mentioned - father? grandfather?
