2003 7 Mary Limbrecht: Anyway, my Mom is 80 and she remembers her great aunt Mary (Shell) Highland. John died in 1918 and they are buried in Sac City, IA. At one time, John was mayor of Sac City. He and my great grandfather Walter (W.T.) were born in Bradford, Vermont. I think John was born in 1838 and W.T in 1847. W.T. moved to Prairie Du Sac, WI in 1866 (we have his diary). I'm not sure if John was already there or not. If he wasn't, he came there shortly after. I found a cemetery listing of a Nettie Harkness Highland, wife of J.M. Highland in Bradford, VT, which leads me to believe that he might have been married for a short time and after she died, he moved to WI. W.T. then moved to Iowa in 1877 and I think John and Mary came shortly after that. While in WI, they had a daughter named Ada Estelle. She died as a child-I think she was around 6. I believe their other daughter was named Bevie. I think another Shell girl (Barbara) married a Baxter and they lived in Iowa. I have pictures of almost all the Shell kids-some of them are unidentified. I'll get them out and see what I have
