!MEDICAL: von einem Mostwagen gefallen und dann die Herzkammer durchdas über ihn gegangene hintere Rad und plötzlich dergestaltenzusammengeknirscht worden, dass durch Auspressung des Geblüts durchMund, Ohren und Nase der erme Jüngling auf der Stelle tot geblieben.(Fell from a ciderwagon the rear wheel of which ran over his chest.This caused the chest to be crushed, and blood to be forced out of hismouth,ears and nose. The poor young man was instantly killed. !NOTE: from Wolf Haederle (Mar 2003): Kuefer is commonly translated ascooper, but in my experience, a Kuefer had a more important business,namely the processing of fruit (apples and sometimes pears) to extractthe juice (Most)=cider. This cider is also called sweet cider(Suessmost) and it is transported to the person who brought the fruitwith a cider wagon (Mostwagen) so tha it can by syphoned into thebarrels, kegs, or similar in the cellar where it is then allowed toferment into Most (hard cider), the common drink in farmingcommunities. A cider wagon has a big (or small) barrel on it whichcontains the fruit juice. Small versions (barrels up to about 500liters=about 130 US gallons) are pulled by hand, biggers onesobviously are horse drawn vehicles. At one time, a Herzog (Duke ofWuerttemberg) had given an order that roads be planted with trees oneach side so that in case of heavy snow the course of the the roadcould still be recognized. Being practical people and NOT WASTEFUL,the Swabians opted for apple and pear trees, specifically of thevarieties used for making cider, not very good for eating, but makinga good drink!! This was done even in areas where grapes were alsogrown in Wuerttemberg.
