Die Vorfahren Kaspar Keppler und Friedrich Keppler ergeben sich aus einem Briefe des Ludwig Kepler, (1607-1663), Sohn des Johannes Kepler, an Kaiser Ferdinand II.
Sebald Kepler war von Geburt adlig, doch musste er den Adelstitel aus finanzieller Not ablegen und in den Nürnberger Handwerkerstand eintreten.
Bürger und Buchbinder zu Nürnberg, "eine lange Zeit in guettem Leimutth heußlich und häbig gesessen und ehlich geporn."
