RESEARCH-LEAD: http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/MergeFamily2.aspx?tid=134150&pid=-1839028248&pg=2,48&ret=-1839028248&altRet=-1869643913 Peter Jakob Scherer 13 Aug 1812 Züsch, Trier-Saarburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany CORRESPONDENCE: New message sent to you on Ancestry.com From: dkniebes, Subject: Scherer Family Tree I am trying to find more information on Jakob Peter Scherer, born 13 Aug 1812 in Zuesch, Germany. He came to America in 1840 and his wife, a Kniebes, died in Cincinatti later that year. I then lost track of him and his two sons, Carl and Peter. Can you be of any help? Duane Kniebes CORRESPONDENCE: from Duane Kniebes to Howard Camp date Tue, Jan 5, 2010 at 3:14 PM subject RE: Scherer Family Tree Howard, Thanks for your reply. We should be able to fill in some blanks in our genealogies. ------------------- Sorry you couldn't get the ebook through. My provider seems to be erratic at times and I'm thinking of adding another one to see if it is any better. ------------------- I will prepare either a MSWord document or a gedcom file to send you. Much of the information I have comes from a German friend who went through church records around Zuesch, and wrote a book detailing the families. He lists a Jakob Peter Scherer, the 10th child of Johann Karl Scherer, as born on 13 Aug 1812 in Zuesch. He married Maria Elizabeth Sophia Kniebes (b. 04 June 1812) on 06 Jan 1834. ------------------- They came to Baltimore on the ship Bangor in August 1840 with several members of the Kniebes family as well as others who were headed to Berrien County in southwest Michigan to purchase farms. They spent the winter in Cincinnati where Sophia died. The passenger list showed two children with them, Carl (1836) and Peter (1838). I've been trying to find out what happened to Jakob, or Peter, and the boys after that. You should be able to help. It is logical that he remarried, so it looks like you have the information from that point. ------------------- I have a listing of two or three generations back from Jakob, and a lot of info on the Kniebes line. You are welcome to any or all. ------------------- You are now on my address list, but I don't know if it will help. I get a lot of junk mail that's not on the list. Once in awhile my mail box fills up with stuff for my wife, so that can be a shorttime problem. ------------------- Lincoln looks like a nice city. We overnight there a few times a year when going from Boulder to our cottage in Michigan. ------------------- Duane Kniebes 4612 Hampshire St. Boulder CO 80301 303-530-9525 IMMIGRATION: Ship Name: Weser Years in service: 1867-1896 Funnels: 1 Masts: 2 Shipping Line: North German Lloyd Ship Description: Built by Caird & Co., Greenock, Scotland.
