The Correctionville News, 25 June 1986, page 3: Laurence "Chris" Ketelsen, 64, of Lawton died Monday, June 9, 1986, at his home after a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with Msgr. W.B. Bauer the celebrant and Rev. J.G. Skahill the concelebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Anthon. Mr. Ketelsen was born January 19, 1922, in Anthon. He married Evelyn Meyer October 17, 1946, in Anthon. They farmed in the Anthon community and moved to Lawton in 1971. He worked for Klinger, Chris Hansen and Holtz Construction companies and with Ebasco Construction Co. at Port Neal until 1975 when he retired because of poor health. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the paratroops. He received the purple heart for services in World War II. He was a member of McNiff Post 289, American Legion of Anthon, and Sergeant Floyd Post #1973, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Survivors include his wife, a son, Bernard of Correctionville, four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Lena) Whitesell of Correctionville, Mrs. David (Louise) Guthridge of Sergeant Bluff, Mrs. Wayne (Lucille) Mead of Lawton, and Mrs. Susan Clausen of South Sioux City, Nebraska, two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Catherine) Sands of Moville, and Mrs. Margaret Petersen of Anthon, a half-brother, Pete Knudsen Sr. of Sioux City and eight grandchildren.
