C. Bailey Ellis, son of Samuel and Sarah Bailey Ellis, was born inLittle Sioux,IA, July 17, 1863 and passed away February 13, 1947 inLosAngeles, CA where he wasmaking his home with his daughter, Mrs.MaryMeulhaupt, since the death of his wife, Maggie Brown formerly ofBlencoe, IA
In his earlier years, he became associated with his uncle, Mike Murrayin the grain business. At Blencoe, he met andmarried Mary Brown andto this union three children were born; Wayne now of Cincinnati, OH;Mrs. Mary Meulhaupt now of Los Angeles, CA; and a son who died ininfancy. Also surviving is a sister Miss Carrie Ellis of Little Sioux.
Mr. Ellis waselected Auditor of Monona County and gained a wideacquaintance during the period of the organization and letting andconstruction of the Monona-Harrison Drainage ditch. Later he becamestatistician of the Commerce Commission at Des Moineswhere he wasengaged until about a year ago when his health began to fail.
Theremains arrived for interment in Blencoe Cemetery, Tuesday,February 18. Rev. Fr. B.V. Greteman officiating at the commitalservice atGraceland. The N. C. GrayFuneral Home arranged the service.
