HOPATCONG -- Stephen Thomas Schmidt died Thursday, June 28, 2007, athome. He was 82.
He was born in Jersey City and lived in South Hackensack before moving to Hopatcong 32 years ago.
He was a World War II Navy veteran who served on the U.S.S.Quincy.
Mr. Schmidt was a collate operator for Prudential Bindery in New Providence before retiring. He was an active memberof St. Jude R.C.Church in Hopatcong. He also was a member of VFW Post No. 10101of Hopatcong, the American Legion of Weehawken and the Hopatcong Seniors.He enjoyed bowling and crafts.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years of Betty(Rovito); dear brother of Adaline Schmidt of Jersey City and the late Gerard, the late Gene,the late Lila and the late Catherine; loving uncle of many nieces and nephews; and his special companion, Princess.
Relatives and friends arerespectfully invited to attend the funeral on Monday, July 2, at 9 a.m. from the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home,150 Landing Road, Landing; thence to St. Jude R.C.Church in Hopatcong,where at 10 a.m. a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered.
Visiting will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, July 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A VFW service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu offlowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude R.C.Church, 40 Maxim Drive,Hopatcong, N.J. 07843.
