Final Rites held for John H. Pogeler Funeral services were held Monday in Larson Funeral Home for John H. Pogeler, 75 resident of this area for about 67 years, who died Friday, Feb 7, 1958. Rev. Alfred Mardorf, pastor of St. Paul American Lutheran church, officiated. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Collmann, Mrs. Arthur Kenning and Maynard Tapps. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers; Robert Janssen, John Peters,Lawrence Pogeler,Kenneth Pogeler, John A Oberhelman and John Carstens. John Henry Pogeler, son of Bernard and Elizabeth Pogeler, nee Juilifs, was born July 10 1882 in Aetzel, East friesland, Germany. As an infant, he was baptized in the Lutheran faith. At the approximate age of eights years he immigrated to this country with his family who settled on a farm north of Manson, in Pocahontas County. On March 26, 1899, he was confirmed in St. Paul American Lutheran church by the late Rev. C. Herrewig. He was united in holy marriage with Lena Carstens on April 30, 1913. This union was blessed with five children. One boy, Carol, died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs.. Pogeler lived their entire married life in Manson. Enjoying comparatively good health until about a year ago, Mr. Pogeler was hospitalized for some time. Since then he as been in failing health. Last Friday evening his condition necessitated his being taken to hospital where he died that same evening. In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons and one daughter; Leo of Lake Charles, LA; Glen of Mason City; Dorothy, Mrs. Lester Munson and Lewis of this community; two brothers, Herman and Ben; one sister Mrs. Lizzie Wendt all of Manson and eight grandchildren.
