She was called from this vale of tears toher eternal rest on April 23, 1960 at the Clay Center hospital at theage of 64 years, 3 months, and 12 days. She received her schooling inDeutschland and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Fehrenbuch(sp?) and later resided in Missouri. On July 4, 1912 she was unitedin marriage to August Kahrs in Moberly, MO. They made their homenorth of Clifton for a few years and then moved East of Clifton wherethey remained the rest of her life. She leaves to mourn her passing,her loving husband and seven children. The sons are Elmer and wife ofPalmer, John and wife of Clifton, Glen and wife of Mauton, Wisc., andVern and wife (Lola) of Clifton. The daughters are Verona andhusband, Arnold Knox of Salina, Hazel and husband, Fred Gill ofClifton, and Gladys and husband, Raymond Ohlde of Palmer; two sistersHilda Pressler of Belleville, Illinois and Maida Straight ofLitchfield, Illinois. One brother-in-law, Herman Straight ofLitchfield; twenty-four grandchildren, six great grandchildren andmany relatives and a host of friends. For over 50 years, Mrs. Kahrshas been a member of the Lutheran Church and its welfare was alwaysone of her chief concerns. She was active in the Women'sorganizations of her church and her faithfulness was an inspiration toothers. On July 14, 1952 they celebrated their 40th weddinganniversary with an open house. In 1955 she was delighted at theoppertunity to return to her homeland for an extended visit. She wasa devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. One of her greatestenjoyments was working with her flowers and garden. Funeral serviceswere held Tuesday, April 26, 1960 at 2 p.m. at the Saint PaulsLutheran Church with Rev. Leonard Folkerts in charge. She was laid torest in the Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were George Damman,Clarence Damman, Otter Wilgers, Rudolph Winter, Gay Hornbostel, andHerbert Lang.
