1971 letter: Mom came to see us July 31. Es and Huel who lived inPascagoula, Mississippi at the time put her on a plane in New Orleansand we picked her up in Pocatello. She stayed till Sept 7 when we tookher home to Bismarck, and visited four days there, 1/2 day at Elgin, 2days at New Leipzig (Fred's brother) and the cousins at Mott for 4days, which was our trip for '71. Address in 1978: 815 J Street, Rupert, Idaho 83350 Letter date 9-21-1977: Ida's mother was glad that she could visit withyou (Beryl Hayden). Uncle Fred Otto and Hattie celecrated their 50thanniversary in June. Uncle Gottlieb had a Fred, uncle Christian had aFred and grandpa's brother Christof had a Fred so with uncle Fred ,there were 5 Fred Hitzes. It seems that Fred, Otto and Ida werepopular names among the brothers and sisters. Letter dated 4-25-1978 mentions that she has a piano student coming ina few minuts. Letter dated 1-29-1979: came home from the hospital on November first. Letter dated 2-26-1979: had a blood clot on the brain and didn't knowanything or anyone. Aunt Helen had a birthday Feb. 16 and was 85. Fred& I called on her the last time we were in Portland and we enjoyed hervery much. She insisted we stay for luch. She writes to mama too.(When I first moved to Portland, I stopped by to visit Helen Bentz andher sons and was not very warmly received even though I told them Iwas Beryl Hayden's daughter, Alice Mae.) Letter dated 3-12-1980 Mike, my grandson (denny"s youngest son) hasgone to work in "Magic Valley potatoes" in our car as happy as can be,- though divorced and missing his children (a boy and a girl) of whomhe speaks so much. He was layed off in Missoula, Mont. from the partsdept in a garage there and decided to come here to work and live withme. I thought it was a good idea and I'm happy to have him here. Letter dated April 26,1980: Alpha came last week end to go with Ou andElla to Bismarck on Sunday on the 20th. She had been visiting herbrothers in Washington and Oregon and her youngest sister inBakersfield, Cal. She works in the senior citizen center in Bismarckand likes her job since they cooperate with her so well.
