Obituary in the Huron Daily Tribune, June 23, 2005 Oliver Eugene Goetze Oliver Eugene Goetze, 88, of Minden City died Tuesday, June 21, 2005,at Covenant Harrison Hospital in Saginaw. He was born on Jan. 26, 1917, in Minden City, son of the late ArthurRobert and Bertha M. (Graichen) Goetze. He married Mary Coaster on Nov. 23, 1946, at St. John's rectory inUbly. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1996. He was a life-long farmer and carpenter. He was an active member ofTrinity Lutheran Church in Forestville. He helped build the TrinityLutheran Church in 1964. He was an assistant Delaware Townshiptreasurer for 31 years. He enjoyed bowling and traveling all overMichigan to play softball. He enjoyed the great outdoors with huntingand fishing. He is survived by three sons: Eugene Goetze and his wife, Caroline, ofMinden City, Donald Goetze of Port Hope, and Ronald Goetze and hiswife, Kristin, of White Lake; two daughters: Karen Goetze and herpartner, Tina Hendricks, of Taylor, Marie Quinn and her husband,James, of Aztec, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren;daughter-in-law, Laura Badger of Harbor Beach; step-brother, WallaceSteele of Sterling Heights; and two sisters-in-law: Rita Coaster ofReed City and Evelyn Coaster of Ubly. Mr. Goetze was preceded in death by two brothers: Lawrence and ArnoldGoetze; and a sister, Margaret Osborne. Funeral services for Mr. Goetze will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday,June 25, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Forestville. The Rev.Richard Wilson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in EastDelaware Cemetery of Forestville. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the SmigielskiFuneral Home on Cass Avenue in Minden City and from 10 a.m. until theservice time at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Goetze tothe Trinity Lutheran Church.
