Obituary Oscar Reuben Benjamin Mehrer was born November 2, 1915 to EmanuelMehrer and Lydia (Gall) Mehrer in Yankton County, SD. Oscar attendedrural country schools in Yankton County and near Harrold, when thefamily relocated there in 1927. After completing his schooling andfarming for a short time, Oscar joined the Navy. After his service inthe Navy, he returned home, farming in the Harrold and Blunt areas.Oscar, along with his wife and two daughters, Rena and Andrea, movedto Phoenix, AZ in 1957 where Oscar worked in the constructionindustry. He later moved to San Diego, continuing a career inconstruction. Oscar returned to South Dakota in 2004 to be near hissiblings. Oscar is survived by his daughters, Rena (George) Henry and AndreaRobinson of Phoenix, AZ ; 4 grandchildren, Stacey Yahna of Portland,OR, Matthew Henry of Tucson, AZ, Travis Strickler of Phoenix, AZ andJoelene Strickler of Phoenix, AZ; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, AlmaBuechler of Pierre and Adeline Rothenberger of Sioux Falls; brothers,Leon Mehrer and Elmer (Delores) Mehrer, both of Pierre and 16 niecesand nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters,Lea Rothenberger, Laura Gramm, Tillie Rowton and Dee Furgeson.
