Highland News Leader, Thursday 5 May 2005: Tammy S. Potthast, 37, ofrural Pocahontas, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at St. Joseph'sHospital. The funeral Mass was Wednesday at Immaculate Conception CatholicChurch with Monsignor Paul W Sheridan presiding. Burial was inCalvary Cemetery in Pierron. Spengel Boulanger Funeral Home was incharge of the arrangements. Miss Potthast was born Sept. 19, 1967, in Breese to Marcellus J."Weakie" and Eleanora B.Potthast "Ellie" Potthast and they survive. She grew up on the family farm southeast of Pierron and graduated fromHighland High School in 1986. She started working at Guy & Vicky'sRestaurant, which became Al's Restaurant and now is Buzzie's AgainRestaurant in Highland, working there for more than 17 years. Prior toworking at the restaurant, she had worked at Immaculate ConceptionChurch in Pierron. She was an avid Baseball Cardinals fan, enjoyedline dancing, playing Bingo and board games, playing cards, going tothe St. Louis Muny Opera and watching movies. She also is survived by two sisters, Donna J. Straube of Pocahontas ;and Elaine M. (Alan) Kruep of Highland; three brothers, James M.(Theresa "Terry") Potthast of Pocahontas, Gerald R. (Melissa) Potthastof Highland and Jeffrey J. (fiancee Kristin Johnson) Potthast ofPocahontas; nine nieces, Jamie M. Potthast, Amanda N. Potthast, KayleeA. Potthast, Tiffany A. (Tim) Wesselmann, Melissa S. (fiance AaronNehrt) Straube, Chelsie L. Straube (godchild of Tammy), Megan M.Potthast, Madelyn R. Potthast and Ashleigh E. Kruep; two nephews,Gavin M. Potthast and Brandon A. (fiancee Heather Doetsch) Kruep; andgodfather Clarence Potthast. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jonathan E Straube, whodied Dec. 11, 2001, and her godmother, Johanna Walter. Memorials maybe made as Masses or to a charity of the donor's choice.
