PARENTS: Named in father's will and in a Apr 22, 1848 deed which describes his portion of his fathers 100, 125 and 40 acre tracts.

WIFE: I confused this JOHN with JOHN of MICH. Land later shown as owned and granted to JOHN of MICH, is shown on the grant for 34 acres as going to JOHN Junior and is adjacent to JOHN Senior. Also, in the 1857 land books it is shown as owned by JOHN of JOHN. One of the records is wrong. A deed of Feb 16, 1852 shows JOHN's father as MICH and refers to 110, 60 and 30 acre tracts bought from father MICH, and, 17 and 34 acre tracts granted to JOHN. The 34 acre land grant refers to him as JOHN JR and is adj to JOHN SR. The 17 acre grant refers to brother GEO. Land books show MICH owning and selling the 100 acres to JOHN and the same JOHN later with the 17 & 34 acre grants. Either "father" was a mistake on the 1852 deed or mistakes were made on the land grants. For now, I am assuming that #898 JOHN of MICH owned this land. The 1852 deed also gives JOHN selling the 5 tracts to PHILIP SIMMONS while the land books gives PHILIP getting the land from JOHN by will.

The usage of Sr & Jr was confusing during this time frame. It actually referred to an older and younger person of the same name but not father and son. JOHN Jr was actually JOHN son of MICH.

Originally I said his wife was MARGARET WIMER based on my confusion. In 1848 JOHN & SOPHIA, sold to JACOB SIMMONS land willed to him by his father JOHN. It also mentioned that the will divided land between he and his brother DAN. I missed this will. It is definite proof. See my discussion on this land in his father's notes.

There is no land shown on land books as owned by this JOHN although his father left him some in his will. That land was shown on land books as owned by "JOHN SIMMONS Estate" until 1852.
