FATHER: Appears to have been PETER SMITH. On a 2 Jul 1811 deed involving HENRY'S heirs, one 27 acre tract is shown as part of 54 acres on S Fk patented to PETER SMITH, 10 Jul 1767.
JEFF CARR gives father as PETER and FRED as son of HEN. His reasons are:cent to them in the 1750's. This would make it highly likely that PETER's wife was the sister of SEBASTIAN.
2- It is also likely that SEBASTIAN SMITH who lived in the area in 1780 was PETER's son, named for his B.I.L. Farthermore, HENRY's son JOHN named a son PETER.
CHILDREN: They were HENRY, CATHERINE, MARY, JOHN, SARAH and one other per 11 Jul 1811 and 5 Dec 1815 deed. Land Books show that the 27 acre tract he bought in 1792 was split to six heirs after his death. A Jun 1818 deed establishes his sixth child SUSANNAH.
There is a confusing bond dated Mar 6, 1797 by CHRISTIAN STONE, guardian of HEN SMITH Jr, infant orphan of HENRY SMITH. It is also signed by JACOB HOOVER who was an administrator of this HEN's estate. But this HENRY's son was married in 1811 when he sold his inherited land. /TOOTHMAN PROBATE pg 8
1787- On Augusta Co, VA tax list "C" of CHAS CAMERON shown as having one male 16-21 yrs, 3 horses & 5 cattle. He "refused to give in on oath." /1787 CENSUS
21 Mar 1788- Surveyed 84 acres on (NW) side of the S Fork of the S Branch of the Potomac R, on the NW side of his own land & attached to another of his tracts in Pendleton Co, VA. Part of warrant # 22030 for 4000 acres granted Dec 24, 1783 to JAS CURRIE. /30418
6 Feb 1792- Grantee, deed, 27 acres (of 54?) patented 10 Jul 1767 on S Fork above GREENE's upper survey from PETER-MARY SMITH for 40 pds. /TOOTHMAN DR17
30 Mar 1796- Granted 84 acres on S Fork. /DEC 5, 1815 DEED-818702
