Notizen zu dieser Person
Mr. and Mrs. John Rieger John Rieger was born September 13, 1859, at Gluecksdahl, South Russia. His father's name was John Rieger and his mother's name was Eva Zisen Rieger. He was married in South Russia on October, 1880, to Barbara Boschee who was born February 12, 1858. Her father's name was John Boschee and her mother was Barbara Heupel. Two boys and four girls remain. They are Katherina (Mrs. Henry Klaudt), of Bismarck; Barbara (Mrs. Christ Dockter); Christina (Mrs. Christ Walth); Emma (Mrs. Ed. Herr); Fredrick and Emanuel of Wishek. When they came to this country in October, 1884, they brought nothing with them but their clothing and bedding. They stopped at Tyndal, South Dakota, and earned enough money to come to Mclntosh County in 1885. First they stopped north of Zeeland and then moved to a farm twelve miles west of Danzig. Because it was late in the spring they were unable to plant a large crop. What they had they sold for forty-five cents a bushel and that brought them enough money to buy the necessities of life. Their equipment included a team of oxen, a cow, a wagon and a plow. They were active members of the Lutheran church. Mr. Rieger passed away on August 17,1922. David Stevens ABD8UT
