Emma Ella Strobel, daughter of Johann and Katherina Strobel, was born on January 28, 1898, in Eureka, SD. There she received holy baptism, and was confirmed by Pastor Ollech. Already as a child she loved the church and visited Sunday School and later served as a teacher. She worked with the youth and was a leader of the young people and organist in her home church. On 21 June 21 she gave her hand in marriage to Theodor Strobel, with Professor Karl Lippenberg performing the marriage. They traveled to leader, Sask., where they lived three years in blessing. From there they went to Birch, ND and served a church district of four churches, and she was the organist in a fifth church. Her son Robert was born there. In the year 1925 they had a call to Walla Walla, WA and served there for three years. Daughter Betty was born there. Then they went to Fort Collins, CO, and since August, 1933, they have been in Laurel, MT. In the four years since they came here, her nerve problem was noticeable, which worsened this year, making it difficult to do her house work and in the last year helpless. For months long she has been under the care of various physicians and no effort and money was spared to heal this illness, with no success. On 29 March she had a stroke which totally disabled her. Her strength was at an end and before the week was over there were more strokes and on Friday midday, the 27th of April, she reached the end. She reached the age of 47 years and 3 months. A sister and her mother preceded her in death. She leaves behind her mourning husband, two children, Robert in the service of our country, and Betty, who this year completed high school, her father, four brothers: John; Daniel; Albert; and Harvey, who has been missing in the European heater since January 1, three sisters: Mrs. Gottlieb Gross, Morris, MN; Mrs. Karl Schock and Mrs. Julius Wudel in Eureka, SD.
