Von dieser Idee beseelt machte er sich trotz seines hohen Alters Ende der 1920er Jahre zu Fuß auf den Weg nach Berlin. Wie man sich unter älteren Jüngersdorfern erzählte, soll er tatsächlich von Hindenburg empfangen worden sein."
