James D. "Jim" Schottel, 60, Crosby, MO, died August 9, 1996, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 23, 1936, in St. Joseph, MO. He resided most of hislife in Cosby. He had also lived in Seneca and Savannah, MO.
He was a milk hauler for Schottel Brothers from 1955 to 1975. In Seneca, he was owner/operator of Schottel Equipment Co. from 1975 to 1981,and the Starlite Motel from 1979 to 1981. He had also been employed asa truck driver for Ralston Truck Line in Bern.
He was a member of Savannah First Baptist Church; Cosby #600, AF&AM; a32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; and the Air National Guard. He was amember of Northwest Missouri Tractor Puller's Association, and an avid tractor puller. He was on the City Board of Cosby, and a volunteer for the Cosby Fire Department.
Survivors are his wife, Marilyn S. Shrik Schottel; sons, Rod Schottel,Cosby MO; Alan Schottel, Cosby, MO; Scott Schottel, Hoyt, KS; daughter, Roxanne Shanks, Cosby, MO; mother, Katherine L. Schottel, Cosby, MO; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth E. Schottel; and a granddaughter, Amy Schottel.
Graveside services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
