(Research):Mentioned in the New Orleans Democrat 1877.November 26th on page 8 Notice to Delinquent State Tax-Payers State of Louisiana Auditor's Office New Orleans, Nov. 26, 1877 I hereby give notice to the Delinquent Tax-Payers whose names appear on the following delinquant list for the parish of New Orelans, published in accordance with Act No. 96, extra session of 1877, that unless ther taxes be paid on or before the FIRST DAY OF DECEMBER, 1877, they will be dealt with according to law. Allen Jumel Auditor of Public Acconts. On page 8 of the newpaper under the Letter "K" the following both names are listed within the SEVENTH DISTRICT. The Seventh District of New Orleans is the City of Carrollton. (The City of Carrollton, once in Jefferson Parish, was incorporated into New Orleans as the Seventh Municipal District in 1874.) On the eleventh day of May 1848 I undersigned have baptized Gertrude posthumous daughter of Wilhelm Kreis and Margareta Kreit born the 26th April of the same year. Raymond Genearal ________ hiesigen katholischer Diozese- New Orleans 18. _____ 1869 --------------------------------------------- Succession of Wilhelm Kreis To the Honorable the Parish Court for the Parish of Jefferson, the Petition of Gertrude Kreis, who reside in the City of Carrollton, Parish of Jefferson, in the State of Louisiana, Respectfully Represents That She is the hole and only descendant and only heir at law of her distant father the late Wilhelm Kreis, being the issue of the lawful marriage of the said Wilhelm Kreis and Margarisha Kreid consorted in the City of New Orleans, State of Louisiana, on the sixteenth day Of February 1847 eighteen hundred and forty seven, That petitioner was born an the (26) twenty sixth day of April (1848) eighteen hundred and forty eight, and is now over the age of twenty three years. Thus her father the aforesaid Wilhelm Kreis, a native of Eichloch in the Grand Dukedom of Hesse Darmstadt, departed his Life in the said City of Carrollton, in this State, on the (29th) twenty nineth day of August 1847, leavs for his sole and only heir at law, your petitioner, then in the womb of her mother, the laid Mrs. Margarisha Kreid; all which just ? will move fully appears by reference to the Certificate of marriage, Certificate of Baptismn and testemony, herto annexed and made part of this petition. Petitioner further Cries that her aforesaid father, she, is entitled to all the rights, claims & property which were of her father, wherever situated or located, and is further more, in law, Submitted, by Representation to all the rights, claims ans property which her father or which would have gotten when said father, by in her house or other wise. ---------------------------------------------------- Petitioner furthermore avers that she now decries who ? by the Said Court as the legitimate --- daughter and sole heir of her diseased father and as Quits her first petition of his ? and decries her legal representation - Wherefore she prays for such decries as the nature of the ? may require this law will permit, and refers equally to the annexed decrements & Testimony - And petitioner prays for genuine Relief ? Gertrude Kreis --------------------------------------------------------- Henry Heuchert, a Resident of the City of Carrollton, Parish of Jefferson State of Louisiana, being sworn according to law, says that he is an native of Hesse Darmstadt in the village of Eichloch that he has well Known Wilhelm Kreis, a native of Eichloch, the son of Wilhelm Kreis + of Dorothea Mussel; he came over from Germany to the United States with the said Wilhelm Kreis, on the same ship in the year Eighteen hundred forty four. He said Wilhelm Kreis, contracted marriage with Margaresha Kreid, in New Orleans (near Carrollton) on the 14 February 1847 and __d in Carrollton an the 29 August 1847; his wife afterwards vir on the 26 April 1848 give birth to a child, whose name is Gertrude Kreis, and she is the same person who signed the foregoing Petition Wilhelm Kreis was not married this ______ no other child Henry Heuchert Sworn to & Subscribed before me this 12th day of August 1870 - Wm. Kern Clerk ------------------------------------------------------- George Gein + Mathias Kuntz, residents of the City of Carrollton, State of Louisiana, sworn according to law - declare and say that they have well known Wilhelm Kreis + Margaresha Kreid his wife, referred to in the testemony of Henry as husband and wife Heuchert, they were married & lived together they were Residents of Carrollton (near New Orleans) State of Louisiana. Wilhelm Kreis died at his residence on the 29 August 1847 from his said marriage was born one child, who is still living, her name is Gertrude Kreis, she was born on the 26 April 1848, she is the same one who has signed the foregoing Petititon. Wilhelm Kreis has left no other children or descendants Gertrude Kreis the Petitioner is well known to us, she reside in Carrollton, in this State Sworn to & Subscribed before me ??? Kuntz This 12th day of August 1870 W. Kern Clerk ------------------------------------------------------- Judgement Parish Court in & for the Parish of Jefferson Succession of Wilhelm Kreis The Court after a careful examination of the Petition herein filed Gertrude Kreis, of the evidence accompanying said Petition and the law applicable to the same __ being of satisfied that all the allegations of said Petition are supported by Properr and legal evidence and that the Petitioner is ?________ed to the relief ?_____ for. Bt ? ? is Ordered that the Petitioner the said Gertrude Kreis, be ?____ed as the sole and only legitimate daughter, and decreed the sole + only heir as law of her deceased father the said Wilhelm Kreis, being the lawful issue of his marriage with Margaresha Kreid and that as such the said Gertrude Kreis be put in Possession of all the property, rights + credits belonging to her deceased father at his death and further more decreed to be entitled by representation of her said father to all the property, rights & ? which ? fallen, ?r might fall to hom were he living Judgement rendered & signed in the City of Carrollton _ this 12th day of August 1870. Angaben zur Veröffentlichung: United States of America State of Louisiana Parish of Orleans Marriage Be it known by the Presents, that on this day the sixteenth of February Eighteenhundred forty seven I, the undersigned Rudolph Korndörfer truly author- ized Pastor of the protestant church by virtue of a License granted from Mr. R.W Cochran, the Honor- able Justice of the Peace, third District, town of Car- rollton in this state of Louisina have joined in the bonder of matrimony Mr. Wilhelm Kreis, born at Eichloch Grand Dukedom of Hessen Darmstadt out of the lawful matrimony of Wilhelm Kreis & Dorothea Mussel and Margaretha Kreid, born at the same said Eichloch out of the lawful matrimony of Andreas Kreid and Catharina Weppler Witnesses Heinrich Deibel and Herr- mann Thiele, both residing in Carrollton, whom have signed ther names with one and both parties on the back of the license, day, month and year as above. In testemony whereof have affixed the seal of church & set my name this sixteenth day of February Eighteenhundred fourty seven at N. Orleans Rud.
