  Christian Nordhoff. Unter zahlreicher Betheiligung von Leidtragenden wurden gestern Nachmittag die sterblichen Ueberreste von Hrn. Christian Nordhoff, welcher am Sonntag im Alter von 76 Jahren in seiner letzten Wohnung, Nr. 676, west-Baltimore-Straße, aus dem Leben schied, auf der "Baltimore-Cemetery" zur letzten Ruhe bestattet. Pastor Jul. Hofmann von der Zions-Gemeinde an der Nord-Gay-Straße leitete den Trauergottesdienst und als Bahrtuchträger fungirten je drei Herren von dem "Talma-Stamm" vom "Verbesserten Orden der Rothmänner" und vom "Allgemeinen Arbeiter-Kranken-Unterstützungs-Verein." Welcher Beliebtheit und Achtung sich der Verblichene erfreute, bewiesen die zahlreichen Blumenspenden, welche an seinem Sarge niedergelegt waren, sowie das große Trauergefolge, welche ihm die letzte Ehre erwies.

  Last Will and Testament Christian NORDHOFF In the name of God Amen. I, Christian Nordhoff of the city of Baltimore in the state of Maryland, being in perfect health of body and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say: Principally, I commit my soul into the hands of the Almighty God and my body to the earth, to be decently buried and after my funeral expenses are paid, I give, devise and bequeath to my dear beloved wife Elisa NORDHOFF, all the cash money, stocks, goods and chattels, which at the time of my death I shall possess. All my other property and particularly my house in West Baltimore Street known as No. 502, I give and bequeath to my wife during the time of her natural life or as long as she shall remain unmarried and in case she should marry again or after her decease, I give, devise and bequeath my said property unto my children, to be divided among them in equal portions, share and share alike. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my dear wife, Elise to be the executrix of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In Anbetracht der Gewissheit des Todes und der Unsicherheit des Zeitpunktes an dem es Gottes Wille sein wird mich zu ihm zu rufen, ist es mein Wunsch, meine weltlichen Angelegenheiten in Ordnung zu bringen. Daher veröffentliche ich dies mein letzter Wille und Testament in folgender Art und Weise: Grundsätzlich übergebe ich meine Seele in die Hände des allmächtigen Gottes und mein Körper der Erde und verlange, dass ich anständig begraben werde und nachdem die Kosten meiner Bestattung gezahlt sind, überlasse ich meiner geliebten Ehefrau Elisa Nordhoff, sämtliches Bargeld, Vorräte, Hab und Gut, die ich zum Zeitpunkt meines Todes besitze. Alle meine anderen Sachen und vor allem mein Haus in West Baltimore Street Nr. 502 vermache ich meiner Frau auf die Dauer ihres natürlichen Lebens und solange sie unverheiratet bleibt. Für den Fall, dass sie sich wieder verheiratet oder nach ihrem Tod, soll mein Eigentum an meine Kindern gleichmässig und gerecht verteilt werden. Hiermit benenne ich meine liebe Ehefrau Elise als Vollstreckerin dieses Testaments und erkläre alle früheren von mir gemachten Testamente als ungültig wobei ich gleichzeitig bestätige, dass dies und kein anderer letzter Wille und Testament existiert.
