BURWELL ‹ LaVern G. "Curly" Gross, 75, of Burwell died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burwell. The Rev. Greg Volzke will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Ericson Volunteer Fire Department, Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund or St. John's Noah's Ark Christian Preschool.
Mr. Gross was born on Feb. 22, 1922, in Sweetwater to Ludwig and Agnes (Psota) Gross.
He married Arlyn Brockman on Aug. 22, 1954. They were later divorced.
He lived in Ord, Ericson and Bartlett before moving to Burwell in 1990.
He loved horses and was a farrier. He enjoyed rodeos, horse shows and livestock auctions. He was a veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two daughters, Renaye Renner of Burwell and Rhonda (Mrs. Joel) Maxson of Burwell; two sons, Randy Gross of Burwell and Ron Gross of Ericson; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Dean Gross of Ord and Eugene Gross of Burwell; and five sisters, Marie Sok of Grand Island, Louise Rassette of Ord, Mildred Jonas of Jerome, Idaho, Doris Dlugosh of Seattle and Clara (Mrs. Norris) Jones of Ord.
