Alvin Kuhl 05/10/2003 ELDRIDGE, Iowa -- Alvin R. Kuhl , a resident of Eldr
idge, diedFriday, May 9, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Da
venport. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, at Faith Luther
an Church, Eldridge. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation wi
ll be 3-7 p.m. Sundayat the church. Memorials may be made to the chur
ch or the Good Samaritan Nursing Center. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridg
e, is assisting the family with arrangements. Mr. Kuhl was born May 17, 19
15, in Eldridge, the son of Rudolph and Laura (Schneekloth) Kuhl. He was u
nited in marriage to Arlene Rose Muhs inDavenport on February 24, 1943. S
he preceded him in death on June 12, 1999. Alvin farmed south of Eldrid
ge for many years, retiring in 1980. He was a charter member of Faith Luth
eran Church and a member of the Golden Wedding Club.In addition, he w
as a member of the Scott County Farm Bureau, the Eldridge Sportsman's Clu
b, the Wapsi Nature Club and the Knights of Pythias where he hadbeen a me
mber over 50 years. After retiring from the farm, Alvin and Arlenevolunte
ered many hours of service to CASI delivering meals for the Meals-On-Whee
ls Program. They also enjoyed playing cards with their friends and had be
en active in the same card club for over 50 years. Those left to honor h
is memory include his daughters and sons-in-law, Lois A. and Steven Qu
am of Richfield, Minnesota, and Lorene J. and Henry Wellnitz of Waterlo
o, Iowa; his sonsand daughters-in-law, James A. and Barbara Kuhl and Will
iam N. and Barbara Kuhl, all of Eldridge, and Leslie E. and Debra Ku
hl of Davenport; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In additi
on to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Alvin
a, in 1944; his sister, Leona Claussen;and his brothers, Elmer Kuhl, Ca
rl Schneckloth and Emil Schneckloth.
