Robert L. "Bob" Brockmann
Robert “Bob” Brockmann Bank Founder Robert “Bob” L. Brockmann, age 87, of Fairview Twp., died suddenly Thurs., Nov. 11, 2004. He was born in Columbus, Pa. on Jan. 31, 1917, the son of the late Henry A. and Charlotte Schultz Brockmann. He was a 1935 graduate of Corry High School and a 1939 graduate of Penn State College majoring in forestry. He also attended Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Following graduation, he was employed for 2 years by PennDOT as a surveyor. He was also employed by PA Dept. of Forests and Waters and the U.S. Forest Service as a farm forester. In 1945, he was employed by First National Bank of Meadville becoming manager of the Farm Dept. and later VP of the bank. In 1950, he opened the First National Bank of Franklin and was President. He also served as VP of Business Development and Branch Administrator of the bank’s Southern region. He was involved in many community organizations: former President of Franklin Chapter of Red Cross, charter member of Venango County Industrial Development Corporation, board member and treasurer of Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce and was voted “Man of the Year” in 1977. He was a board member of Franklin Parking Authority and member of Franklin area school board. Board member of the Franklin Area School Building Authority, and Franklin area Goodwill Industries. Board member of Franklin Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Dearing Brockmann, in 1980. One son, Frederick W. Brockmann, in 1989; one sister, Mary Kolender; two brothers, Ernest and William Brockmann. He is survived by his wife, Harriett O’Neill Brockmann; one son, Peter D. Brockmann of Naples, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Thelman Jutare Brockmann; one granddaughter, Eve, of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters, Charlotte Lopus of Vienna, Md., Elizabeth Henry of Morristown, N.J., and Martha Hulteen of Glenview, Ill. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and are invited there on Monday at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Center for the Blind, 2402 Cherry St., Erie, PA 16502
