Alvina C. Bauer of rural Hastings, a homemaker, died March 25, 2007, at Regina Nursing Home, Hastings. She was 82 years old.
She was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Vermillion, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Teeling) Tutewohl. She attended rural schools in the Vermillion area and was a 1942 Farmington High graduate.
She married Sylvester Bauer Oct. 10, 1944, in Vermillion. He died Dec. 14, 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Roger (JoAnn) Bauer of Hastings and Alvin Bauer of Hastings; two daughters, Jan (Ted) Wagner of Hastings and Sr. Nancy Bauer, OSB, of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Bauer of West St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Juanita Bauer of Hastings and Viola (Ernest) Werner of Vermillion; and brother-in-law, Bernard (Mary Lou) Bauer of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvester; infant son, John; sisters, Louise Tutewohl, Frances Drake and Marjorie Tribbit; and brothers, Edward and Vincent Tutewohl.
A funeral service was held March 28, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Miesville, with Father Jay Kythe officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The pallbearers were Dennis Bauer, Donald Bauer, Eugene Bauer, Charles Werner, Michael B. Bauer and John L. Bauer. The honorary pallbearers were Paula Rabaey, Joy Eggert, Stacey Mikesh, Jennifer Bauer, Tony Wagner and Jeff Wagner.
