CHRISTINE CHARLOTTE WILHELMINE JERABELE LEHMANN:
at 5 a.m.
Christine Charlotte Wilhelmine Jerabele Lehmann was born in house #14 in the town of Bolhorst ((Boelhorst), Minden, Germany on 1 March 1844. She was christened at the Evangelische Kirche Sankt Martini Parish, Langemiende Minden on 10 March 1844. The witnesses at her christening were obviously friends or family of her mother since she was named after all of them!
Christine Wrenz (last name is probably spelled wrong)
Charlotte Schaefer (Schafer)
Wilhelmine Enffmeyer
Jerabele Febok (probably spelled wrong)
Christine's father was Heinrich Lehmann, a brickmason, who was born, according to the church marriage record, about 1803. Heinrich was probably born in or near Bolhorst since his father, Ludwig Lehmann was a bargmann (a mine worker) from Bolhorst. The marriage record lists Heinrich's age in 1828 as 25. I have not found birth records for Heinrich or Ludwig as of yet. The small village of Bolhorst is outside of Minden which is near Hanover, Germany. There is a history of the area in the Brokmann book.
Christine's mother was Catharine Gerdrut Christine Charlotte Franzmeier. There are two marriage records for Christine and Heinrich that refer to her mother. The Kirchbuchenduplicat 1815-1874 record lists her name as Christine Charlotte Franzmeyer. The Sankt Martini Parish record lists her name as Catharine Gerdrut Charlotte Nobbe Franzmeier. This record scratched out the Christine.
Catharine's father is listed as Heinrich Franzmeier of house number 23 in Barkhausen. Christine Nobbe is Catharine's mother. Catharine's birthdate is the 20th of October 1808. The Evangelische Luthern Kirchengemeinfe, Barkhausen, Minden birth record lists Christine Nobben of house no, 35 in Barkhausen as the mother of Charlotte Chatrine Gerdrut. The names are very confusing but the records, marriage dates, birthdates and house numbers all connect. So, Christine Charlotte Franzmeyer is also Catharine Gerdrut Charlotte Franzmeier. Whew. Just to add a little more confusion, Heinrich Franzmeier's name was crossed out on the same record that the name Christine was scratched out.
Now, on to Christine Lehmann's grandmother, Christine Nobben. Christina Gerdrut Nobbe was born 12 November 1777 in Barkhausen to Jobst Heinrich Nobbe. The Evangelische-Lutherische Kirchengemeinde Barkhausen, Minden lists Christina's christening on 16 November 1777. There is a Jobst Heinrich Nobben christened in Alswede on 13 March 1726 . The father is listed as Johan Herman Nobben or Buckholtz. Buckholtz is probably the name of Johan Herman's mother.
So the family names are Lehmann (Lemann), Franzmeyer (Franzmeier) and Nobbe (Nobben). The families all lived in Bolhorst and Barkhausen, and probably Alswede in Minden, Germany.

According to the 1900 census records Christine Lehmann immigrated in 1864. For a history of her life and family after she immigrated and married Frederick Conrad Brokmann, refer to the Brokmann book.
