lived before proably in Cincinnati
My Thies family came from Hannover (don't know exactly) and settled in
Cincinnati, Ohio also. A group of Germans in Cincinnati pooled their money
together in order to purchase land. The group was named, The German Land
Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. They elected a few member of this group to
scout out land in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. The men that were
elected to do this found some favorable land in central Illinois that is
now called Teutopolis and Effingham, Illinois. This group purchased land
there and divided up the land among the members in 1838-1840's.
