1. In 1880 he worked as a drayman and then in 1900 he was a butcher.
2. Copied from page 490, History of Brown County, Illinois, 1880-1970:
"Butcher Shops......Shortly after 1915, Frank A. Meyer who had
dissolved partnership with his brother Cyril earlier bought the Alex
Brockman shop and..... Mr. Alex and Fred Brockman were veteran
butchers after the passing of the McEntee Brothers. They began
business in the early1880's, first on East Main then on North Capitol.
About 1900, Fred withdrew and Alex had the shop alone until it was
sold to Meyers.
....Lozelle (Buster) Brockman was the veteran meat cutter of Mt.
Sterling learning the business in the shop of his uncles, working for
years for Frank Meyers...."
