Elvera K. Johnson, age 89, resident of Brainerd, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at St. Joseph's Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 22, 1914, in Nokay Lake Township to Wesley and Gina (Pedersen) Swartout. Elvera attended Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, baking homemade bread and crocheting. Elvera Bescheinen, owned the Log Cabin Cafe. She is dearly loved by her family.
Survivors include her children, Donna (Bob) Luehring of Coon Rapids, Delores (Marv) Schultz of Baxter, Murvin Wickham of Brainerd, Gert Kuschel of Brainerd, Yvonne (Ken) Ellstrom of Brainerd; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; brother Herbert Swartout of Virginia, Minn.; sisters Gudrun Johnson of Brainerd, Della Shanks of Brainerd, and Pearl Miller of Brainerd.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Clarence Wickham, Rudy Bescheinen and Ed Johnson; her parents; three brothers John, Earl and Ernie; sister Marcella; twin infant boys; grandsons Jody Ellstrom and Loren Wickham; and great-grandson ChadHigh.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Faith Baptist Church in Brainerd with Pastor Jim Goodew officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Brainerd. Visitation will be the hour before services at Faith Baptist Church.
