Helen King Wise Milan Helen King Wise, 85, died Jan. 20, 2003 at her home. She was born July 19, 1917 in Redford, the daughter of Harvey M. and Winifred (Crysler) King, who preceded her in death. Helen was an honor student graduate from Redford High School in 1935. She attended Ypsilanti Normal Teachers College from 1948-1949 and held teaching positions in Livingston County Rural schools from 1950-1952. In 1952 she became a secretary at the Ypsilanti Ford Plant and was also a secretary with Bendix Corp., Ford Wayne Assembly Plant and University Microfilms. Helen was also an active member of Wayne United Methodist Church 1963-76, Lower Deer Creek Church of Brethren 1976-1997, and Milan Marble Memorial United Methodist Church 1997-2003. She was an active member of The Detroit Genealogy Society, Carroll County Women’s Extension Club, and United Methodist Women Groups wherever she resided. In August 1935, she married Byron Baldwin in Baltimore, where he was stationed in the U.S. Coast Guard. There were seven children born to this union from 1936 through 1943. Numerous moves took the family all over Michigan. Later she met Claude M. Wise at the Wayne Assembly Plant, who was a widower with five children and they married on March 9, 1963. They resided in Wayne, Mich. until 1976 when they moved to Camden, Ind. She is survived by: six children and four stepchildren, Byron (Judy) Baldwin Jr. and Jay (Sherley) Baldwin, all of South Bend, Winifred "Jackie" (Carl) Marsh of Appleton, Wis., Helen . (James) Edwards of Milan, Barbara (Robert) Pullano of Portage, Mich., Betty J. (Donald) Flint of Ironwood, Norman A. (Marilyn) Wise of Okemos, Elaine Wise Chadwick of Sparta, Ga., Beverly (Dave) Coffing of Peachtree, Ga., and Mary Margaret (James) Rokita of Howell; 26 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; both husbands; her son Harold Baldwin; stepdaughter Ellen Wise Collins; great-grandson Garret Andrews; and brother Harold King. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Marble Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. Private burial will follow in Cadillac Memorial Gardens West. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washtenaw. Arrangements were handled by the Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan.
