NEUMANN AGNES NEUMANN, EMIL VOSSWINKEL, META 10/12/1913 F Mewis Agnes Lena Neumann 12 October 1913 No date given PR Bellville Times Mewis Agnes Lena Mewis, 94, of Bellville, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Bellville. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2 p.m. from St. John Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jennie Jones and the Rev. David Henske, officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Delbert Schmidt, Daniel Mertz, Marc St. Gil, Harold Mewis and Charles Mewis and Bobby Neumann served as pallbearers. Agnes was born to Emil and Meta (Voswinkel) Neumann on Oct. 12, 1913 in the Sempronioes Community of Austin County. She was raised and attended school in the Sempronioes Community. She married Alex Mewis on June 18, 1933. In 1951 Agnes and Alex purchased Citizen's Lumber Yard in Bellville. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bellville. Agnes is survived by her son, Wilbert Mewis of Bellville; sister, Ora Nell Kaase of Brenham; brother, Wilfred Neumann of Kenney; grandchildren, Harold and wife, Jean Mewis of Bellville, Theresa and husband, Marc St. Gil of Lewis Center, Ohio; great grandchildren, Wesley and Ashley Mewis of Bellville and Elizabeth St. Gil of Lewis Center, Ohio; daughter-in-law Joyce Gayle Mewis Steed of Chilton, Texas; nieces Idell Mertz and Daniel and Peggy Schmidt and Delbert and nephew Bobby Neumann and Amy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Meta (Voswinkel) Neumann; husband, Alex Mewis; a son Alexander Edgar Mewis Jr.; brothers, Arthur, Harry, Eddie, and Theodore "Ted" Neumann. Services under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville. -- Joy Neely
