Philadelphia Inquirer, 14 Feb 1911Mahanoy City Sues Woman for Fees. Theater-Owner Objects to Paying Additional Licenses What is said to be a controversy between the theatres and the moving picture people of Mahanoy City, Pa, was rehearsed before the Supreme Court yesterday, when argument was heard on the appeal of the borough of Mahanoy City from the judgment of the Common Please Court of Schuylkill county in favor of Christiana Hersker. The latter is the proprietress of a theatre, and was sued by the borough to recover 306 fines of $5 each for alleged violations of an ordinance of April, 1905, relating to theatrical licenses. The case was tried before Judge Brumm and resulted in a verdict in favor of Mrs. Hersker. . . .
