Central City--Jno. H. Brookman Sr., died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Mosher THursday at 2 o'clock. Mr. Brookman had been failing in health since February 1911. Just before his third stroke of paralysis he had been feeling very much better and the last stroke came as a surprise to all. Mr. Brookman was born in Virginia in 1835, living there the early part of his life. He moved to Rock Island from there to Andalusia in 1867, living there forty-two years, from which place he moved to Central City in the spring of 1909, where he continued to reside until his death which occurred at the age of 76 years. His wife died last February 1911.
There are eight surviving children who were all present at the time of his death: Mrs. T.W. Simmons, Swift Current, Can., H.M. of Miller, S.D., G.T. and R.W. of Center Point, J.H. and L.E. and Mrs. Fred Mosher of this place, Mrs. A.J. Davis of Pierre, S.D.
Mr. Brookman was extensively engaged in the mercantile business in Illinois, where he was widely known, but because of his advanced age retired on coming to Central City.
