MRS. SROUFE DIES IN WHITLEY COUNTY
COLUMBIA CITY, Ind., Jan. 27
Mrs. Elizabeth Sroufe, who lived for nearly thirty years on a farm in Troy township,
passed away Thursday morning at 7:30 o'clock, from a complication of illnesses
extending over a period of eighteen months. She was born in Noble county, and
was at the time of her demise 75 years, nine months and seven days of age.
When twenty-seven years of age she married John Rockey, who died 27 years ago.
Three sons, Aaron, of near Pierceton; Newton, of Larwill, and James, of Kimmel,
survive the union. After the death of Mr. Rockey she was married to Wesley Sroufe,
of Noble county, who passed away only a few years ago. Four children survive this
union, they being Miss Celina, of Kalamazoo; Miss Amelia, of North Manchester;
Wesley, Pierceton, and Miss Mary, at home. After the death of her husband, who
resided for a time in Troy township, Mrs. Sroufe made her home with her children.
Funeral arrangements later.
