Married Elizabeth Ann Helmer Oct 21, 1824. Jan 22, 1879 news of Jeffersonville on page 4 of the Courier Journal (Louisville newspaper) mentions: "Hon. T. J. Howard was very low last night, with scarcely any prospect of recovery. Mr. Howard has been very low for more than a year, but his condition now is such that he can not possibly recover." Jan 26, 1879 page 1 Courier Journal has his obituary. Oct 11, 1879 Courier Journal has details regarding administration of his will. Walnut Ridge Cemetery's burial records are limited due to loss during 1937 flood. Children with wife Elizabeth Ann Helmer were: Hulda, Silas G., Thomas J, Jr., Elizabeth A., Jeremiah, Andrew J., Martin V.B., George F., Jonas W., Emeline M., and Sarah E.
