Edwin Henry Hey, 87, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Avera Prince of Peace Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 7, at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon, with burial at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Garreston, SD.
Edwin Hey, the son of Edward and Elenora (Gebhart) Hey was born April 28, 1919, in Dell Rapids, SD. Edwin worked on a farm near Humboldt, SD, for over a year, before moving to Sioux Falls and working for John Morrell, Inc. for eight years.
On September 12, 1942, Edwin was united in marriage with Elsie Hoeppner in Sioux Falls. Edwin was employed by Carnicle Construction for several years and also by various other contractors where work was available. Edwin ultimately worked for Henry Carlson Construction, where he stayed for 15 years, while also farming at Valley Springs. Elsie died December 8, 1981.
On August 12, 1983, Edwin was united in marriage with Eva Mahoney in Garretson. After Edwin's retirement, the couple moved to an acreage two miles East of Brandon, and he did odd jobs on his own. Edwin was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Garretson.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Eva of Valley Springs; four daughters, Lois Klinkel, Sioux Falls, Rita (Mike) Donovan, Sioux Falls, Elsie (Edmund) Baye, Highmore, SD, Mary (Lloyd) Lunde, Hartford, SD; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Armella Even, Dell Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie; six brothers, Tony, Ray, Cyril, Norbert, Ervin, and Eddie; three sisters, Mary Sorsen, Casilda Kyle, and Elenora Poss; a granddaughter, Ambur Lunde and a son-in-law, Del Klinkel.
