Baptised 30 April 1626 Kirton, Lincolnshire, England About Towne, vol. 3, #3, p. 54. W.G. Davis 1927, The Ancestry of Lieut. Amos Towne 1737-1793 of Arundel (Kennebunkport), Maine, pp. 8 and 25-26. Originally of Ipswich, later of Rowley Village which became Boxford where he was living at the time of the marriages of daughter Amy Smith. Resided first in Boston, then in Ipswich, then to Rowley where he purchased 280 acres of land partly in Topsfield and in Boxford. He was a tailor. 1661. Resident of that part of Rowley which became Boxford. 1673. One of six petitioners to the General Court, asking that efforts to remove them from Topsfield and them to the jurisdiction of Rowley be prevented. 1678. Oath of allegiance. 1680. Given as head of family in Rowley. 1693. Died intestate, with son Samuel named as administrator.
