Born January 2, 1897 in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Victor Immel was thesecond of ten children born to Mary and Herman (HG) Immel. At the age ofsix months Victor moved with his family to the Spolane area where hisfamily homesteaded first at Horseshoe Lake and then in 1908 at Othello,WA. From Othello the family moved to the Yakima Valley. It was hereVictor met and then married Katherine Baird on September 22, 1924. Theirmarriage span of forty-five years ending with Katherine's death in 1969.For over firty years Victor actively plied his trade of "builder" fromhigh rises in San Francisco, the ship yards in Seattle during WWII, tocommercial and residential building here in the Yakima Valley. In thesixties he took down his shingle that read, Vic Immel Builder/Contractorand retired though he continued to build and remodel for familythroughout the eighties. Vic was the Patriarch of the family; hisstrength and spirit will be sorely missed. He is survived by three children, a son, Edward V. Immel of Shelton,WA, a daughter, Fern K. Goodro also of Shelton, and a son, Don H. Immelof Yakima; a brother, Hurley Immel of Cle Elum; a sister, Hilda McGuireof Seattle; seven grandchildren, Tom Immel of Seattle, David Immel ofLake Tahoe, Kathy Immel of Renton, Vickie Schrieber of Shelton, VictorImmel of Portland, Faye Fulton of Yakima, Kimberely Immel of Yakima;three great-grandchildren, Derek and Logan of Renton and Joey ofShelton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; threebrothers, Bill, Gilbert and Herb Immel and four sisters, Essie Immel,Clare Gardner, Marie Lea and Opel Goodman. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 4 at 11:00 AM at WestHills Memorial Park. Those attending should meet at the cemetery.Viewing will be Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, Sunday from 9 AM until 8 PMand Monday from 8:30 AM until 8 PM at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. Ifdesired, contributions in memory of Victor Immel may be made to afavorite charity. Some history of Victor: He lived in Othello Washington for sometime. He worked at the KeystoneRanch. He was known for hooking up the 1st plumbing in the city. He wasinvolved in the 1st city water works in Othello. Victor's son Don hasthe tools that were used during these jobs. He has the vice that heldthe pipe, and the pipe threader. Pipe wrenches, and all the stuff usedfor the job. Everything in the year 1996 still works, although the pipethreader really doesn't thread anymore.
