Notizen zu dieser Person
The first Rosentreter in Australia was August Rosentreter who arrived in 1870 on the ship ‘Humbolt’ from Hamburg. The next year, Dec 1871, his family (Johann and his wife Wilhelmina (Dittman) & their other children Wilhelm and Wilhelmina) arrived on the ship ‘John Bertram’, also from Hamburg. Johann put out a newspaper advertisement in January 1872 for his son August to contact him via the German Embassy. Our South American cousins are mostly descendants of August Rosentreter-Dittman (who obviously adopted the Spanish naming of Fathers Surname-Mothers Surname - hence Rosentreter-Dittman) who emigrated from Poland (Prussia) to Australia (1870), then to the USA and finally to Chile around 1877. There are records in Halverston, Texas of him being there in 1877. Halverston was a shipping port and steeping off place for emmigrants to South America.
