James Garrett ''Jim'' Ramsey, 72, of 290 Hartwell Road, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002.
A native of Asheville, N.C., Mr. Ramsey was a son of the late William Ralph Ramsey and France Louise Sawyer Ramsey. He was a retired owner and operator of Ramsey Electric. He was a member of The Gideons International, IBEW Local 238 for 50 years and was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and choir member.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Abundant Life Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Reed Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Maude West Ramsey; a daughter, Fonda R. Durner, Asheville, N.C.; four sons, James Garrett ''Gary'' Ramsey Jr. and Thomas Dale ''Tommy'' Ramsey, both of Lavonia, Carl Andrew ''Andy'' Ramsey, Ashville, N.C., and Russell Wayne ''Rusty'' Ramsey, Anderson, S.C.; four sisters, Leila Rector, Maggie Valley, N.C., and Georgia Dover, Eva Glenn and Selma Ward, all of Asheville, N.C.; three brothers, William D. Ramsey, Abbeville, S.C., Paige J. Ramsey, Panama City, Fla., and Martin Ramsey, Asheville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Strickland funeral Home.
