LAKE WALES -- Ret. Lt. Col. Egon J. Arndt of Lake Wales died Wednesday (June 25, 1997) in Lake Wales. He was 68. Born in Herdorf, Germany, on Nov. 3, 1928, he moved to Lake Wales from Fort Benning, Ga., in 1971. He was a helicopter aviator in the Army, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received the bronze star, meritorious unit citation and presidential unit citation. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Arndt. He is survived by his wife, Joan Arndt, Lake Wales; daughters, Pamela Waldron and Tina Huston, both of Lake Wales, and Marcia Faletti, Coal City, Ill.; son, Robert Joseph Arndt, Lakeland; and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 11 this morning at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, 454 Buck Moore Road, Lake Wales.
