1 Details: Elmer M. Watkins (December 1, 1920 - May 28, 2011) U.S. Veteran Elmer M. Watkins 1945-2011 Elmer M. Watkins, 90 of Somers, died Saturday May 28, 2011 at Sheridan Medical Complex. He was born on December 1, 1920 in Kenosha, Wis. the son of late Myron & Anna B. (Grevenow) Watkins. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha. He married Elnora E. Rasch on July 7, 1945 at the Immanuel Methodist Church in Kenosha. They were married for 65 wonderful years, she was the love of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 1942 – Aug. 1945.He was employed by Mac Whyte Wire Rope Company as a fork lift operator. Prior to that he worked for the Northshore Railroad. His hobbies were making model airplanes, trains, & cars, bowling, nature, feeding birds. He loved animals & his 1969 Dodge Charger. Survivors include his wife Elnora of Somers, one son James Watkins of Burlington, two daughters Linda Klopstein & Laurie (Bill) Brunet both of Kenosha, five grandchildren & four great grandchildren. Kenosha, WI 53143 1-262-652-1943 www.kenosha-funeral-services.com Elnora Rasch, Elmer Watkins Wed Saturday (7.7.1945) Pertly wedding ceremonies were held for Miss Elnora Elizabeth Rasch and Pfc. Elmer Myron Watkins of the air corps on Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Immanuel Methodist church when the Rev. Anton Stury united then in marriage. Parents of the young people are Mr. and Mrs. John Rasch of 3618 Seventeenth avenue and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Watkins of 6601 ´Twenty-eighth avenue. Miss Rasch chose for her marriage a wh1te gown with satin bodice and marquisette skirt. A halo-effect headpiece held in place her fingertip veil, and she carried a bouquet on her arm. John Rasch gave his daughter in marriage. Singing for the occasion to the accompaniment of the church organ1st was Miss Arlene Knoedler. Her selections were "Because" and "I Love You Truly". Cousin Attends The bride’s cousin, Miss Lucille Rasch, attended her as maid of honour in a yellow marquisette gown. Bridesmaids were Miss Lois Grevenow and Mrs. Clifford Becker and Barbara Lee Zettler was junior bridesmaid. They wore gowns of pink, aqua and blue marquisette with matching bandeaus, and carried bouquets with ribbon streamers. Completing the bridal party were Pvt. Kenneth Grevenow as best man, Don Rasch and Clifford Becker, ushers, John Rasch, Jr., junior groomsman, and Robert Lee Rasch, ringbearer. Families of both young people enjoyed dinner at Burger hall following the wedding, and a reception for 200 guests was held there later. Relatives and friends from Ohio, Michigan, Waukegan and Racine were present. Pfc. Watkins will report soon to his station at South Carolina, and his bride will remain at home wtth her parents.
