Details: Obituary for Marlene Gelsone (Sturman) Marlene B. Gelsone, 75, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018, at her home with her loving family. Born in Kenosha on June 19, 1943, she was the daughter of Victor and Lorraine (Jacob) Sturman. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools. Marlene owned and operated Marlene’s Key to Hair Fashion in downtown Kenosha, for over 30 years. She also opened a satellite studio at Lakeside Towers, making it easier for the elderly to get their hair done. She then began working at American Motors. In 1984, she owned and operated Sturman’s Bar/VJ’s Lounge. Her work ethic was undeniable to all who saw her. Marlene was the President of the Wednesday Night 8 Ball Pool League for many years. She enjoyed sun tanning and gambling in Florida and Las Vegas. Watching her favorite Chicago teams, the Bears, Bulls, and Cubs, all win world championships during her lifetime was especially exciting. Marlene was sound in her faith, and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Survivors include her son, Todd (Kay Cornell) Gotta; a brother, Victor (Gloria) Sturman; a sister-in-law, Rose Heather; two nieces, Jaclyn and Jennifer; a great uncle, William (Kay) Jacob; and many cousins, two of them particularly close, Gayle Webber and Jane Phillips. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband on October 15, 2006, Frank Gelsone; and her previous husband, Harold Gotta. Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 21st, at Proko Funeral Home, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery.
