Heinrich Gerhard (Henry) was born to Johann Herman (Herman) and Anna Drieling on September 28, 1866 in Germany, and died May 10, 1941. He was baptized in the Lutheranfaith in Hude, Germany, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's church in the community north of Hooper, Dodge Co., Nebraska.

He married Marie Ellinghausen on Mar 3, 1890, in Hooper, Dodge, NE. They had six children: Mathilde, Louise, Herman, Henry, and twins Anna and George.

 

 

Services for Henry Drieling

   Funeral services for Henry Drielign, 74 years of age, were held Tuesday afternoon with a short service at the home at 1:30 and a two o’clock service at St. John’s Lutheran church with Rev. E. Wendt officiating.

   Music was furnished by St. John’s mixed quartette, Mrs. John Von Seggern, Mrs. E. Wendt, George Schroeder and Fred Von Seggern. Floral offerings were beautiful. Pallbearers were John Poppe, Henry Witte,Uehling, Adolph Witte, Herman Popken, William Popken and Gustav Havekost.

   Intermet was made at the church cemetery.

   The deceased passed away Saturday at 11:30 p.m. He had been bedfast for the past two years. Mr. Drieling was a charter member fo St. John’s Lutheran church. He served as Sunday school superintendent for many years and also had been a member of the church council.

   He was born in Oldenburg, Germany and came to Dodge county at the age of four years. He was married to Marie Ellinghausen in 1890, the couple having celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in March 1940.

   Those who survive are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. H.D. Meyer, Arlington, Mrs. Henry Rodick, Bancroft and Mrs. Albert Rohlfs of West Point; two sons Herman of West Point and George of Scribner; ten grandchildren and six sisters, Mrs. Windhusen of Washington state, Mrs. John Valler, Concord, Mrs. Fred Kunz, and Mrs. Fred Marx of Scribner, Mrs. George Koester, Allen, Mrs. Gesina Suhr of Uehling.

   Among those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hein, Yutan; Ludolph Kunz, Mr. and Mrs. George Vallers, Mrs. Sophie Vallers, Mrs. Fred Rewinkle, Mr. and Mrs. CarlBoefcher, all of Concord; Herman Von Essen, Oakland; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Valers, Mrs. Herman Westerholdt, Mrs. Lena Westerholdt, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Westerholdt, jr., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Westerholdt, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Westerholdt, Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder, all of Pender; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Suhr and children of Beemer, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rodick, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rodick all of Bancroft; Mrs. Philben, West Point and Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Meyer, Arlington.
